Last month, the Keever family invited me into their stunning home in Forest Highlands. The images are part of the latest feature for Stroll Highlands magazine (now available to residents)! I can’t get over how gorgeous these sweet family photos are from their Flagstaff summer portrait session.
Warmly welcomed by the entire Keever family, Louden family, and their adorable dogs, I walked up the steps to their home. Because we scheduled a golden hour sunset session, the lighting was absolutely breathtaking. We stepped out onto the gorgeous golf course between the pretty ponderosa pines surrounding the property and couldn’t wait to get started.
I got to know the family better as we explored a small section of the glorious grounds. Learning how Lori and Larry first met on New Years Eve in Las Vegas, I couldn’t stop smiling. The love story began while watching a spectacular fireworks display directly outside of their hotel window. Larry caught sight of Lori across the room; she was glowing as the fireworks glittered outside of the glass.
As soon as the show ended, Larry made his way across the room. Ever the gentleman, Larry offered his hand to help Lori step down off of a chair; she had climbed up for a better view of the show. They spent the rest of the night dancing. Soon they were calling each other whenever they could.
And here they are, 12 heart-warming years later.
Family sessions are some of my favorite portrait sessions. They allow me to help bring together so many wonderful people at one time and in one place. I always make sure to capture the entire family and smaller “break out” sessions featuring each member as you see below. I treasure each family session, mindful that images may hang upon the walls in family homes for years to come.
While wrapping up the session with Stephanie and Camryn for sibling and individual portraits, they mentioned, like Larry, they enjoy golfing on golden summer evenings; all can be found spending hours out on the course together. It is such a wonderful way to catch-up and connect. And if you follow golf, you likely will not be surprised to read this, being that Stephanie is actually a PGA champion.
Though they had friends visiting that evening cooking up a culinary delight, Larry kindly took time to show me around their home. All the while, he pointed out amazing pieces of art he had collected over the years. To Larry and the entire Keever family: Thank you for sharing an evening of your lives, inviting me into your beautiful home.
Keep an eye out for the future spotlight on Stephanie and the Louden Family unit as Part 2 of this Flagstaff summer portrait session in Forest Highlands! You may see a few of the Keever family members pictured here make guest appearances as well. I’ve provided a sneak peek of the upcoming Stroll Highlands feature in the first and third images below! And I’ll be the first to share the entire session here as soon as it is available.
